Types of viruses

(i) Boot sector

BOOT SECTOR   

 -Are the viruses that designed to infect the boot sector of the disk (C.P.U.)

FILE INFECTING VIRUS

 -Are the viruses that attach themselves to files and destroy them.

Types of malware affecting your computer

(i)Worms and Trojan

- Is a program that multiplies on its own to make multiple copies of itself  

 -It does not attack itself to other program files.

(ii) Trojan horse programs

-Are the programs that damage data or files present in the system.

EFFECT OF VIRUSES

(i) At can infect soft ware not hard ware

(ii)It can infect and corrupt the data files

(iii)Can increase the size of a file

(iv)Can alter the contents in a file  

(v)Can erase specific programs in a computer  

Malicious software

-is a software designed to deliberately harm your computer. Example: - viruses, Trojan, warm, etc.

-Also known as malware.
